How To Back-up Your WordPress Blog
Your blog is likely to contain lots of information (and hard work) you don't want to lose. We back your files up daily, however, no system is perfect. It is always recommended, no matter who you host with, that you back up your website (and blog) often. The following tutorial will show you how to download a WordPress Plugin that can automatically back up your WordPress blog. It is recommended to also do a manual database backup from time-to-time (just to be sure). Click Database Backup to view that tutorial.
The rule of thumb is to keep at least 3 copies of your website in 3 different places (on your server, a CD, and your hard drive, for example). Also, be sure to backup your WordPress database before you upgrade or move it to a new location.
Installing A WordPress Backup Plugin
| Step 1 Download the plugin wp-db-backup.zip from Il Filosofo; or, you can download it from our server by clicking HERE.
| Step 2 Unzip the file.
| Step 3 Upload the wp-db-backup folder to your /wp-content/plugins/ and activate it in the Plugins menu.
| Step 4 Click the Manage tab in your WordPress admin area. Then click the Backup sub-menu.
Step 5 Configure the plugin as you see fit. We suggest including all your tables.
NOTE: This plugin allows you to back up your posts and comments; however, you still have to download your files and images to complete your backup. The easiest method to do this is to use a FTP client. There are many free FTP programs out there; here's one we like, Core FTP Lite.
