How To Upgrade WordPress Using The Automatic Upgrade Plugin

Therefore, we created this tutorial so you can easily keep your WordPress blog up-to-date using the Automatic Upgrade Plugin.

Note: You can click the images below to enlarge them. Also, it's wise to quickly make note of which plugins you have active if you have several inactive plugins (in case the automatic re-activation of your plugins fails you will need to re-activate them manually).


Step 1 - Download The Plugin & Install

  1. Download the wordpress-automatic-upgrade.zip file to your local machine.
  2. Unzip the file
  3. Upload wordpress-automatic-upgrade folder to the /wp-content/plugins/ directory
  4. Activate the plugin through the 'Plugins' menu in WordPress

Go to "Manage" and then click "Automatic Upgrade."

Click on "automated version" if you wish to upgrade quickly, otherwise, choose the "Click here" link to upgrade step-by-step.

After you have upgraded your database, now it's time to re-activate your plugins. If after clicking this link your plugins don't automatically activate, go back to your plugins and re-activate them individually.
