Hello & Welcome To The eVentureBiz Blog
|
| A network of bloggers helping one another. |
This is a special blog post as an introduction for new visitors to this blog coming from Liz Strauss’s second official Blog-to Show which showcases blogs from all over the blogosphere (mine is #132).
The idea is bloggers can find one another through her blog and make relationships with like-minded people. Thank you, Liz.
For those of you who are new to this blog, thank you for stopping by. My name is John Hoff and I own a few businesses including this one, eVentureBiz. eVentureBiz is a Web 2.0 web hosting and development company targeted at helping those who wish to create an online presence, incorporate their business, and learn what takes to become successful online.
From the first day of conception of eVentureBiz, I knew I wanted to create a home on the web for web hosting customers and give them a different experience from the typical boring web hosting company’s site. If you’re curious what I’m talking about, I wrote an article on the topic entitled, Is Your Website Web 2.0 or Corporate?
About This Blog
This blog journeys with me as I take the path of the web entrepreneur and share with you my knowledge and experience. My goal is to help you learn what it takes to create a successful online venture and help new entrepreneurs develop a lateral and creative thinking process.
I also invest in real estate, so you may see an investing tip or two while visiting.
If you’d like to see a list of all my articles (to get a better idea on what I write about), head over to my blog posts site map.
Thanks for stopping by and don’t forget to visit Liz’s site if you get a chance.
If you’re new here (or just want to say hi), feel free to say hello in the comment section so I can thank you for stopping by. And if you have any questions about business structures, protecting your assets, or web development, please don’t hesitate to ask.

Thank you, Al, I’m honored. In the next month or so I’ll be concluding my buying real estate investing series in which I will showcase some pics (and maybe some vids…we’ll see) of a flip or two I’ve done.
When commenting on my blog, don’t be shy about linking to your site if the article is helpful, I’m all good with that.
So tell me about the Bruce Lee Avatar. I was in kung-fu for many years and we learned the teachings of Bruce Lee’s Jeet Kun Do (though it’s been some time since I trained). I do see the parallelism with your blog.

Hi John - that’s awesome that you learned JKD. I have been a fan of Bruce Lee as a martial artist, and I also have all his movies on DVD. The first three martial arts book I bought were Book of Five Rings by Musashi, Zen in the Martial Arts by Hyams, and Tao of Jeet Kune Do by Lee.
I’ve practice Tae Kwon Do and Hapkido for several years and am toying with the idea of learning mixed martial arts. I really like what JKD embodies… “use what works, discard the rest.” He basically wants us to learn every effective style out there and use the one that sticks. My blog was started with that philosophy for personal development.
How did you like your years in kung fu? Is it something you’re still involved in?

I haven’t been in it since about 7 years now, so you could say I’m a bit rusty!
I loved kung-fu. We learned so many arm bars and wrist locks, I loved it. We studied the philosophies of Jeet Kun Do and applied them to a system of different kung-fus.
We had a few instructors who knew between them: Wing-Chung, Hung Gar, San-Soo, Chinese Boxing, and my main instructor was a Samurai who taught a little Aikijutsu. It’s funny you mentioned “use what works, discard the rest” because that’s exactly what we did.
I got to tell you though, traditional Kung Fu masters didn’t like that we mixed styles into a “system.” Overall, though, I loved it.
I think MMA is the way to go these days. It really does provide an all around good fighting skill. And yes, I’m a big UFC fan!
