Adding The “Cool Factor” To Your Website
|
As a web development company, we love hacking up programs like WordPress and phpBB and transforming their generic layout to our own, even if it’s only parts used by us.
I stumbled upon a website called Binary Moon the other day and found a great plugin for WordPress that lets you customize your login page.
Looking to the image on the right you can see what I came up with (click image to see the actual page).
Most people will never see this page since I don’t have many guest bloggers write articles, but that could change one day and it would be nice to send them to a branded login page.
I also like the fact that someone would go to our login page and think, cool!
We try very hard here at eVentureBiz to make sure our website has a cool factor to it. When I see our site I like to think simple and futuristic. I want people to see our site and say, “Yup, that’s who I want to design my next website.”
Do you like hacking up your factory-issued blog or website template? Do you like adding a coolness factor to it?
If so, what have you done? Maybe you want to but don’t know how? Remember we have a community forum where you can ask for help.

Hi John,
The log in page “logo” is very cool.
Thanks for the link to the plugin. I’ll have to check it out and see what I can do with my blog.

John - that really is cool and I think it definitely makes your business look more professional than the average Wordpress plugin.

Let me just say, I love both your avatars. Are you two really cartoon characters?
Yeah when I came across that plugin I thought, “oh that’s for me.” I love to customize.
I might spend a little more time creating a nice graphic but for the moment I just made it match our header.
Real nice if I ever decide to have guest posts.

I made a plugin like this once, lost it in all the server transfers over the past year.
But, mine was pretty much the same, except for that I could choose from any of the files in the folder that held the designs, from inside of the Plugin settings.

Hey Andrew. Welcome over to my blog.
You sound like me, I’ve built so many computers, reinstalled Windows a million times, and have had to switch hosts over the years as well. It’s all a pain and I’ve lost stuff as well.
I like plugins like these because I love customizing anything I get.
